Community

The Largs Bay RSL boasts a strong and positive relationship with its neighboring community.

This encompasses actions such as:

  • The Veterans' Centre situated on the LeFevre Peninsula.
  • The Nursing Homes located within the vicinity, such as Philip Kennedy Centre, Marten Village, and Uniting Care Wesley at Semaphore Park, will be holding remembrance ceremonies.
  • Engagements with schools in the nearby community such as Largs Bay School, North Haven School, Our Lady of Visitation School, and Oceanview College.
  • One way to offer assistance to organizations such as Visit a Farmer is by providing support.
  • A walk called the Fort to Fort Remembrance Walk.

In recent times, we collaborated with nearby schools to produce pieces of art to display on the back fence towards the direction of the railway line. The intention behind this undertaking was to enhance the appearance of the surroundings, deter vandalism and provide commuters with a pleasing sight during train journeys. To enhance the educational experience of North Haven School pupils, we collaborated with them. Some of our veterans were invited to have a conversation with their students, sharing stories about their military service.

"Visit a Farmer" is an initiative aimed at aiding agricultural families facing the challenges of drought and adverse climatic conditions. Through different periods throughout the year, the RSL has served as a location for people to donate food items, personal care products, and presents. This demonstrates the concern of urban residents towards fellow citizens in their country.
